Dry suit
Primary Material: Dry suits are constructed from various materials, but common choices include tri-laminate fabrics, crushed neoprene, or membrane materials like Gore-Tex.
Tri-Laminate Fabrics: These dry suits consist of multiple layers, often with an outer layer of durable fabric (e.g., Cordura), a middle layer that serves as the waterproof barrier, and an inner layer for comfort.
Crushed Neoprene: Some dry suits are made from neoprene that has been compressed, creating a dense material that is resistant to compression at depth.
Membrane Dry Suits: These suits are made from breathable and waterproof materials like Gore-Tex. They keep water out while allowing moisture (sweat) to escape, providing comfort during long dives.
Seals and Zippers: Dry suits typically have latex or silicone seals at the neck, wrists, and ankles to create a watertight seal. Zippers are also essential for entry and exit and are often waterproof.
